The Center for Environmental Research and Conservation, on the Morningside campus of Columbia University, is an 18,000 sq. ft. facility that occupies three floors. Originally a typical doubled-loaded plan, the center spine of the space was opened to create a sun-lit circulation space that doubles as a lounge and meeting area. At Pine Hall – the Academy’s boat maintenance and waterfront support facility – we address a backlog of over $2 million in refurbishments and corrective projects in energy consumption, code compliance, fire and life safety, moisture intrusion and corrosion due to the harsh marine environment, deteriorated insulation, antiquated HVAC equipment, rust, and other failed systems and materials.
