The interior of this historic brick and stone building included elements designed by Tiffany. The restoration required new heating, air conditioning, lighting, and handicapped access. The cellar was converted into useable space, and an addition below grade greatly expanded the library’s capacity. The exterior walls were restored in tandem with the installation of new windows.
The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission gave the building its official designation once work was completed.
