This new, 650-seat pre-K through 8th grade school in Long Island City opened in 2013. The 98,569 s.f building features a 300-seat auditorium, gymnasium, administrative offices, and five instructional stories above grade with classrooms and science labs. An accessible entrance and glazed gallery space open onto a 3,400 s.f. play-yard facing a new park to the south. Occupied for the 2013/2014 school year, 78Q is our second project to be designed within the City’s Green Schools initiative (equivalent to a LEED Silver rating).
